K Andrew

about

scottish bagpiper

Whilst of Scottish descendancy, his mother being from Clydebank, Piper K Andrew was born in Brighton, Sussex. Predominantly self-taught, he has an extensive repertoire, which is ever increasing. He enjoys playing both as a solo piper, and within band situations - he is a performing member of the Surrey Oatlands Park Pipe Band.

Piper K Andrew was part of the world record breaking massed pipe band, (Pipefest) in Edinburgh, in August 2005, when 9,100 pipers and drummers assembled and played simultaneously! He has also played at numerous weddings, civil ceremonies, Burn's suppers, funerals, festive boards, Military 'dining in' nights and corporate events - as well as appearing pro bono at a number of charity fund raising events. In addition to this, he has played on Radio Mercury FM on the morning of Burns Night and was recently asked to perform in the stage production of 'Brigadoon' in Leatherhead.

Piper K Andrew will perform wearing either full military ceremonial no.1 dress - consisting of feather bonnet, doublet, plaid, kilt and spats - or no. 2 dress - Glengarry hat, Prince Charlie jacket and black tie. He wears the Royal Stewart or Hebburn family tartan - both are predominantly red and very popular.

[Note: Piper K Andrew is always willing to negotiate fees for charitable events, subject to his availability.]
